Morning Session — What's It All About Anyway?
Synopsis: This course is designed for dentists, dental hygienists, and other interested parties who want to learn more about the nuts and bolts of volunteering around the world or around the block. It will also be useful for those with some volunteering experience looking for new ideas or just validation of what they are doing. Topics include the nature of volunteer activities, cross-cultural issues, comparison of service and teaching projects, how to get started either at home or abroad, the nuts and bolts of volunteering overseas and at home, and where to find these volunteer opportunities. There will be ample time for interaction with the presenters and other experienced members of the audience.

Afternoon Session — Sweating the Details — And There Are a Lot of Them!!!
Synopsis: This course is designed for those international volunteer rookies and veterans alike, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, dental students, and other like-minded folks who want to share their ideas about how their projects run and perhaps gain some new insights into the efficient operation of a volunteer dental project in less than ideal surroundings. This course is a continuation of the morning course in that many of the topics briefly mentioned earlier, including portable equipment of all kinds, infection control, international health, liability, clinical procedures, and other relevant topics will be explored in great detail.
