About the ICD - USA Section Foundation

The ICD USA Section Foundation supports many Missions and charities in the United States and around the Globe. Financial assistance from the ICDF is focused on Education, Communication, Leadership, and delivery of dental care to the under-served throughout the world.

Foundation Membership

All ICD Fellows in good standing are automatically members of the ICD USA Section Foundation. Membership is also open to other individuals who are interested in supporting the goals of the Foundation.

Foundation Charities

The history of the dental profession is of prime importance to the USA Section Foundation. Only through an understanding of the profession's history can it continue to advance. Likewise, only through a sharing of knowledge can all dentists have an opportunity to provide quality dental care to those in need.

Some of the projects and programs supported by the Foundation include the International Dental Student Exchange program, the International Humanitarian Outreach program, the Kikuyu Dental Clinic in Kenya, the Samuel B. Harris Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore, White Coat ceremonies at dental schools and various responses to need such as financial donations to the Louisiana School of Dentistry and the American Dental Association Disaster Response Fund in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and many others.

One of our most successful programs is the International Dental Student Exchange program. Over 100 students have participated in this program which encourages students to spend time at a foreign dental school. Exchange students are then accepted from those participating countries. The program facilitates an important sharing of knowledge and information to improve global dental health. Shown below are French exchange students and their ICD hosts at Lake Burton in Georgia. In turn, students from the dental school at the Medical College of Georgia visit a dental school in France.
