Held annually this program recognizes and awards outstanding dental journalism by editors in and out of the dental profession.

In their many decades, these awards have encouraged improvement in content, coverage, format and quality. The four categories in the awards are: Golden Scroll for showing the most improvement during the year in content and format; Golden Pen for the most outstanding article or feature; Golden Pencil for the most creative and effective use of illustrations or other graphic arts; and Special Citation for presenting an unusual treatment. There are two divisions in each category for large and small to medium budgets and honorable mentions in each category. Golden Publication is the award for the best overall dental publication. All aspects of the other categories will be considered in judging for this award.
