Recommended Reading on Leadership
Good leadership motivates and guides people to accomplish desired goals or objectives. Good leaders are creative, communicate well and are self confident. They are decision makers and have the ability to inspire, influence and motivate others. While there are many leadership styles, three are well known. They a laissez-faire, autocratic and democratic.
The laissez-faire leadership style is hands off and offers little or no direction. Individuals are given more freedom in their decision making and in setting their goals. They resolve their problems with little input from the leader.
The autocratic leadership style is more hands on where the leader keeps all of the decision making power, sets the goals and resolves the problems.
The democratic style of leadership encourages participation and is a team effort in the decision making process.
There are volumes of reading material on leadership. We have listed a few and, other than alphabetically, in no particular order. We encourage everyone to submit books on leadership to the Central Office to be added to this beginning list.
