There are many names in dentistry, past and present, that you may know as you read dental literature as having made significant contributions to our profession. The USA Section of the ICD perceived that many of these leaders needed to be recognized and that their contribution be perpetuated. Thus was born the project "Outstanding Leaders in Dentistry - An Audio Visual History Series."
The College presents on VHS video and now on DVD a unique series of interviews of outstanding dental leaders by reviewing their accomplishments and presenting their views on the dental profession. Clinicians, practitioners, researchers and educators who have made significant contributions to our profession are recognized in these tapes. Important events in their lives provide human interest aspects with historic value. The interviews include why they chose dentistry as a career, the factor that influenced the character and timing of their contributions, and their views of dentistry's past and future from their own historical perspective.
The videos and DVD's of the outstanding leaders in our profession are intended for use in presentations to professional associations, societies, and dental schools. Libraries and those who have a personal interest in the history of dentistry will find these tapes of value. The full videotape series is housed in the ICD "Visiting Scholars Room" at The Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore, Maryland.
