THE CHANGING OF THE
Dr. Carol I. Turner Dr. Elaine C. Wagner
Effective January 10, 2017 Rear Admiral Elaine C. Wagner replaced retiring Rear Admiral Carol I. Turner as Registrar of the USA Section of the International College of Dentists. What a huge success story for the USA Section! These two women provide a wealth of experience and knowledge to our organization, as well a background filled with administrative and command abilities. I had the distinct honor to be a small part in the selection process for each of these women as the leader of the USA Section. In both cases, when their application for the Registrar position was reviewed, there was no question as to their qualifications and ability to serve. I also was the USA Section President when Admiral Turner began and am now the Foundation President as Admiral Wagner begins. My roles in the ICD will and have been greatly enhanced by these women!
Both women came to the USA Section through stellar Navy careers. Both started with dental degrees from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Both served in various administrative and leadership roles throughout the Navy. Both received Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal recognitions. Both possess not only immense work-related skills, but also personalities that contribute to success in all of our efforts. These are very impressive women who represent the USA Section in extraordinary fashion.
I can tell you that after almost 15 years in my national positions within the USA Section, we have been blessed with leadership of our Section office with Rear Admiral Dick Shaffer, General Bob Brady, Rear Admiral Carol Turner, and now Rear Admiral Elaine Wagner. Our organization is much better due to the influence and leadership of these individuals
I hope you will join me in expressing our gratitude to Admiral Turner for her service to the USA Section as well as our welcome to Admiral Wagner and look forward to working with her to carry out the strategic plans for both the USA Section and Foundation.
