UNE PRESS RELEASE: PORTLAND, MAINE—MAY 2018

The International College of Dentists USA Section (ICD) 2018 Spring Continuing Education Program will be held in the Oral Health Center at University of New England College of Dental Medicine (UNE CDM) in Portland, Maine on May 16, 2018.

The International College of Dentists is the oldest and largest international honor society for dentists in the world, and it will celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2020. About 6400 ICD Fellows live in the United States, which is about half of the worldwide total. The ICD USA Section’s Core Values are Integrity, Leadership and Service. ICD USA Section President Joseph Kenneally ‘76, D.M.D., is the first Mainer to serve as President both in the ICD USA Section (2018) and of the ICD Worldwide College (2015). Kenneally is a UNE Trustee and alumnus as well as the son of a former faculty member and administrator.

UNE has strong ties to the organization. Many of UNE’s CDM faculty members are fellows of the ICD, including Dean Jon Ryder, D.D.S., M.S., and Executive Associate Dean James Koelbl, D.D.S., M.S., M.J., as well as Associate Clinical Professor Jay Beauchemin, D.D.S., M.S.; Assistant Clinical Professor Barry Saltz, D.D.S.; Associate Clinical Professor Jeffrey Doss, D.D.S; Assistant Clinical Professor David Moyer, D.D.S., M.D., FACS; and Associate Clinical Professor Lionel Vachon, D.D.S.

Dr. Ryder and faculty members Adepitan Owosho, B.Ch.D., F.A.A.O.M., Tessie Stansbury, D.M.D., and Namita Khandelwal, B.D.S., M.S., worked with Dr. Kenneally to create an outstanding continuing education program to be held in conjunction with the ICD’s Spring Meeting in Portland. This CE program is open to all dentists. Topics include:
  • “Snow and Fire”: Red and White Lesions of the Oral Cavity
  • Hands on Training — Biopsy Techniques & Suturing
  • HPV-Related Head and Neck Cancer
